Fishing rod building components - handle kits
This is the collection of items that will bring your handle kit to life. As you know there are many technical elements to building a rod, from the blank to the guides, to the guide placement, grip lengths etc. This section is mostly about making something that is technically functional into a creative and attractive display of your workmanship.
In summary winding checks are used to tidy up the end of your reel seat, or cork/EVA grip, so that there is something attractive covering the end where the grip ends much like the gyprock cornice in your home. When ordering a winding check be sure to order one that is slightly (up to 0.5mm) larger than what you measure to cater for variations and also in case you make alterations to your design.
Reel seat collars are designed to sit against the reel seats and provide integrated trim between your reel seat and your grips and of course add some colour at the same time.
Flat trim rings can be used anywhere; against your butt cap, in the middle of your rod grip, against your real seat (bait cast/over head), the options are limitless.
Carbon tube is also very attractive, light weight and strong. Carbon tube can be used in many places also, as part of your butt cap for decoration, to cover your blank in between your rear split grips or even as your foregrip or rotating fore grip.
